DIY Facial

To be honest, I was very bored the other day... It the kind of day that's rainy and dreary which normally i like, but on that day, it just didn't. So I tried researching facial idea's and came across this extremely simple one. All you need is honey and one orange slice! And so yeah, here's how that went...

1. Put your hair back. With this recipe getting gunk on your headband isn't really an issue so you can use a nice one.

2. Take off all your makeup.

3. Wash your face.

4. Kay, now that all that's done, you need to take one tablespoon of honey and melt it in the microwave till the consistancy is more runny.

5. Slice open an orange (this part is fun!) and squeeze out all the juice; you should have one teaspoon of fresh orange juice.

6. Mix the orange juice in with the honey until it is fully incorporated. One thing I actually loved about this facial was how it was nice and warm when I spread it on my face.

7. Here's the spreading I was talking about.... Just dip your fingers in coat all your face. Tip: Sometimes it drips off of your face, so then you just need it a little less warm.

8. Now just wash it off of your face (comes off pretty easily) and you're done! I wasn't expecting a major difference in my "skin quality" but it was soooo relaxing! I'm for sure doing this again today. :)

Mixology #1

I loooved Drew's post on mixology, so I thought I'd try it out too. I'm actually really glad that I did because it made me realise how many pottential outfits I can make without needing to constantly refresh my wardrobe. So, here it goes. 9 pieces, 9 outfits...

Top: Forever 21, Scarf: a local bookstore, Belt: OOTB, Skirt: American Apparel
I guess this would be more of an outfit for a spring evening, or a cooler day. The socks, cozy sweater and scarf add the perfect amount of warmth.

Shirt: Winners, Green shirt: thrifted, Shorts: Forever 21
I like how you can take off the green shirt, and then the outfit can be worn on a way hotter day.

Dress: H&M
Again, more layering for the coming summer months. The belt proved really useful.

Shirt: Forever 21
I like the teal with the colours in the shirt... It seems more subtle.

This time I tried folding the socks over the boots for a different look. I didn't list the socks as an item, but they too have really helped out.

Dress: OOTB
Same thing goes for the green shirt as before; just take it off it gets too hot! I guess same for the scarf, as well. I love this dress, it's covered with white rabbits and seriously reminds me of Alice in Wonderland.

Skirt: OOTB
Something has always sort of drawn me to yellows and pinks...

Dress; H&M
Heh heh... My original idea was to tuck the dress under the skirt as a top, but it ended up being too long. I actually sort of like it like this! It feels like a whole new dress.

Last outfit. I added in the blouse so that it hopefully didn't feel to matchy matchy, what with the 2 greys and 2 browns. Normally I don't wear green so much, but this shirt was around 5$ and the bright colour made me happy!

Yay for days off! :)

Mother's Day

Such great mother's day! Here's our lovely list of festivities;

1. Jade and I wake up early (cough cough, 9 am) and make french toast with the works

2. Went to Fort Whyte and enjoyed the nature and amazing weather on our little picnic spot just off the path

3.  Ate peas and cantalope, had weslydale and blarney cheeses (haha, we thought those would be awesome names for a cat!) as well as acai juice and chutney

4. Relaxed...

5.... Then hiked

Looove you mom! It was a good day :)

Inspiration: keepsakes and memories

There's something so beautiful about wrinkles. Like deep crevices of time, stories hidden beneath. I sort of can't wait to have wrinkles. To be an aged person with keepsakes and memories. I guess that's what inspired this post... Keepsakes (the bracelet, dress and shoes) and memories (from the 5 beautiful women).

Room Reno's

Lately I've been changing some things around in my room... I'm still working on it, though. My happiest find was the desk above, a 1910 farm table! i love the fading yellow paint :)
The typewriter was from value village...

The view. I like to stick my head out here when the room gets really stuffy.
